Is This You?
Almost everyone today is trying to get more done in less time. One problem: There is more to do than there is time to get it all done!
In the Corporate World
Many small business owners and independent professionals are choosing to do it all. They are doing the tasks that they really don't want to do which keeps them unfocused on their businesses.
Eventually a lack of energy and feelings of frustration set in because they are so bogged down by completing their have to do list.
“Nearly 50% of all US workers feel overwhelmed by a growing number of job tasks and longer working hours.” - Families and Work Institute, 2001
At Home
Superparent syndrome sets in! Schedules are filled up with the kid’s activities like taking them to soccer practice and swimming lessons.
Yet there is a house to take care of, cooking to do, laundry to get done and errands to run. At the end of a day there is very little "me time" or even just a chance to have 15 minutes to sit down and relax.
“39 hours a week are devoted to childcare, housework or shopping by mothers not in the workforce.” - Robinson, J.P.and Godbey, G., Time for Life: The Surprising Way Americans Use Their Time, 1997
Employees
In today's busy world employees are expected to work longer hours in more demanding positions, carrying out more responsibilities with little change in their benefits.
Their jobs leave them tired and drained and the end of each day. Yet when they come home there are personal tasks waiting for them to complete.
“The average worker admits to frittering away more than 2.09 hours a day, not counting lunch, on personal business. This costs companies an estimated $759 billion a year.” - Salary.com and AOL Survey, 2005.
